    Sukkot

Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday that comes five days after Yom Kippur. It celebrates the fall harvest and commemorates the Jews in the torah who lived in temporary dwellings while wandering in the desert for 40 years after leaving Egypt.

For Sukkot many Jews build a sukkah, a temporary dwelling, outside and then eat meals and gather with friends there. Even if you don't build a sukkah, it's still festive to be in the spirit and to eat outside.

So, for meals in the sukkah, I think of 3 types:

    • One pot meals which area easy to carry outside
    • Fall dishes that showcase fall produce and that feel warm while eating outside in the crisp air.
    • Stuffed foods which represent the bounty of the fall harvest.

My favorite Sukkot dishes include Honey Mustard Chicken with Apples, Butternut Squash, & Brussels Sprouts, Beef and Barley Soup, Super Bowl Chili, and Butternut Squash Soup with Bob's Red Mill Vegi Soup Mix.

    • Spinach and Feta Bourekas
    • Shaved Brussels Sprouts and Parmesan Salad
    • Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Brisket
    • Italian Herb Chicken With Wine and Garlic
    • Braised Brisket with Onion Gravy
