Yom Kippur pre-fast dinner
The erev Yom Kippur dinner is the last meal eaten before fasting for the Yom Kippur holiday, the holiest day of the year in the Jewish calendar.
There are many different theories about what makes a good pre-fast meal. Many people want to eat protein and complex carbohydrates feeling that those foods last longer. Also, some like to eat food rich in water and low in salt to minimize being thirsty.
Here are my favorite pre-fast dishes including Za'atar Roasted Chicken, Baked Whole Salmon Fillet, and Honey Mustard Chicken with Apples, Butternut Squash, & Brussels Sprouts. All three of these entrees can be prepared with vegetables in the same pan making them quicker and easier to get on the table.
