    Break the Fast

The Break the Fast dinner happens at the end of the Yom Kippur holiday, the holiest day of the year. After spending the day fasting and thinking about ways to be a better person, everyone is hungry and looking for easy-to-digest comfort foods. And it's ideal to serve food that can be prepared in advance.

I like to serve fish (Smoked Salmon Spread on bagels or Roasted Whole Salmon with Fennel), a dairy casserole (Apple Noodle Kugel or Make-Ahead Mac and Cheese), a light soup like Cauliflower Soup, and fresh fruit. See more ideas below.

    • Easy Blintz Soufflé Casserole
    • Honey Cookies
    • Baked Whole Salmon Fillet with Citrus and Fennel
    • Aunt Rose's Homemade Chunky Applesauce
    • Homestyle Apple Cake (shhh, no one will know it's dairy-free & whole wheat)
    • Make-Ahead, Homemade Mac and Cheese (lowfat, lactose-free)
    • Salmon Mousse Spread and Recipe Notes From the Past
    • Sharon's Creamy Cauliflower Soup (Dairy-Free)
    • A Healthier & Rustic Apple Crisp that Won't Ruin Your New Year's Resolution
    • Maple Syrup and Blueberry Pancake Muffins (dairy-free, whole wheat)
    • My Quest for the Ultimate Sweet Apple Noodle Kugel
    • Grandma's Rugelach: Chocolate Chip or Apricot Walnut
