Shavuot
Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the spring harvest and commemorates Moses receiving the 10 commandments on Mt Sinai.
The food served usually includes spring produce and dairy dishes, which represent the plentiful food in the land of Israel flowing with "milk and honey." The dairy meal also signifies when the Jews first started keeping kosher, including eating meat and dairy in separate meals.
It's common to decorate the home with fresh flowers and new fruits from the harvest.
For this holiday I like to serve a dairy casserole like Blintz Soufflé, bagels and lox or Salmon mousse spread, an egg casserole like Baked Vegetable Frittata, and fruit. Or any of the choices below.
